ABI compat report

Sergio -

 I see that you added a patch to remove the version checking at runtime.  I think this is a bad idea as upstream does not maintain ABI compatibility between releases.  See the attached ABI compatibility report between 3.300 and 3.330.  Until upstream decides to use a proper soname versioning scheme we're going to need to continue to use explicit version requires.
