RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Patch

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #841825 +++

Description of problem:

In Fedroa 17 "Security Guide", in section "2. Basic Hardening Guide", subsections from "2.6. Networking" to "2.13. NTP" are all empty.

--- Additional comment from eric on 2012-07-23 22:03:52 EDT ---

Yep, they are blank. I'm regenerating the code and will check to see if it gets fixed this time around.

Patch

The blanks were intentional placeholders but should have been commented out. Instead of 'fixing' the blanks by commenting out the code, again, I added text.

Ready for QA.

Comment 1 eric 2012-07-25 02:13:32 UTC
This bug came from the Fedora community. There were placeholders showing in the Basic_Hardening.xml file. The RHEL Security Guide was checked and noted that the placeholders were there as well although they were commented out.

This text is a bit rough but should help fill out that area a bit.

If you'd like to include it in the RHEL doc feel free.

A patch for the patch

This patch is a patch for the patch. :(

QA found a couple of errors that were fixed.

Full chapter

I wasn't very diligent on the patches... Here's the entire chapter. The bottom portions are what were changed.

Comment 5 Tomas Capek 2013-09-30 14:22:43 UTC
I just took over maintenance of the RHEL book but cannot see the sections from the patch in it. The issue seems to be obsolete now so I am closing it.

Please advise if I missed something.
