Description Luc Lalonde 2012-08-01 18:38:25 UTC
Description of problem:

After logging on console or with 'su' we get this error:

ehd_logctl: feature 1 is already zero

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

pam_mount-2.13-1.fc17.x86_64

Comment 1 Jan Pazdziora 2012-11-17 15:36:23 UTC
Actually, it's before logging in:

$ su - abrt
ehd_logctl: feature 1 is already zero
pam_mount password:
su: incorrect password
$

Even if I don't log in (abrt for example had shell /sbin/nologin and no password set), I see this message.

No message is logged in the /var/log/messages when I do that su in my shell
but my messages has many lines like

Nov 17 16:01:01 hostname crond[727]: ehd_logctl: feature 1 is already zero
Nov 17 16:03:01 hostname crond[727]: ehd_logctl: feature 1 is already zero
Nov 17 16:06:01 hostname crond[727]: ehd_logctl: feature 1 is already zero
Nov 17 16:11:01 hostname crond[727]: ehd_logctl: feature 1 is already zero
Nov 17 16:19:01 hostname crond[727]: ehd_logctl: feature 1 is already zero
Nov 17 16:34:01 hostname crond[727]: ehd_logctl: feature 1 is already zero

Comment 2 David Dillow 2013-03-13 02:42:57 UTC
Also present in Fedora 18, with pam_mount-2.13-2.fc18.x86_64.

Fix spurious message and make password prompt more consistent with other modules

The attached patch fixes the spurious log message, and also remove pam_mount from the password prompt, making it more consistent with other PAM modules.

Comment 4 andrew2.hart 2013-05-02 10:37:55 UTC
This bug is fixed in the latest pam_mount code or if you can't wait edit libcryptmount.so.0.0.0 with vim and edit the error message. Search for "feature" then move the cursor to the initial "%" and change it to null.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2013-07-04 01:40:55 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '17'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the
'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 6 Erik Zeek 2013-07-04 03:17:41 UTC
I can't change the version, but I'm still seeing this in Fedora 18.

I've changed the version to 18.

Comment 8 Till Maas 2013-07-04 06:06:13 UTC
I just asked upstream, if there will be a new release soon. Otherwise I will add this patch to the SPEC:
http://sourceforge.net/p/pam-mount/pam-mount/ci/38a15cc36c7fe6714dd3010fde6ad808b3792ac0/tree/src/rdconf1.c?diff=8bbab5ce3520d361398bdcd65290af8f9cd8ea64

WRT the password prompt: IMHO it is good that it can be seen whether pam_mount is active or not to avoid surprised when it is not (but should) and the home directory is not properly mounted.

Comment 9 Jan Pazdziora 2013-07-04 07:23:31 UTC
Actually, let's make the version 19.
