Description R P Herrold 2003-02-19 22:20:04 UTC
The instructions on images/pxeboot/README indicate a PXE/TFTP based
install/upgrade is permitted.

Yet -- for 8.0.94, there is a substantial notation and section on changes in the
Installation process, and an enumeration of methods, NOT mentioning PXE based ones.

The following statement is clearly inaccurate:

If you are performing anything other than an installation from an IDE or USB
device, you will be asked to insert a driver diskette created from one of the
following image files:

... for in a PXE/TFTP installation, no removable media device would even be
present. The "anything other than" language is the problem

1. Please amend that line to continue:

from an IDE or USB device, **or across a network, as with a PXE based
installation,** ...

new material marked with ** bracketing

2. and later add a sentence:

PXE based installations are discussed in images/pxeboot/README[, and more fully
detailed in __??__].

here: [] bracket an unknown to me. Are they discussed more fully in the new
doco? --

Comment 1 Ed Bailey 2003-02-19 22:39:02 UTC
While the capability to perform installs using PXE exists to some extent, it is
not an installation method that we support; therefore, it will not be documented.
