We have had a customer case specifically due to the confusion around seeing the initial snapshot. The initial snapshot is currently navigated to by clicking the "pinned" icon from the list view. Although I believe there is a "hover", it's not obvious. Instead, this customer clicked the definition and went to the "carousel" view, which shows only the delta snapshots (i.e. snapshot 1..N). In doing so he thought the initial snapshot was empty, which it was not. We need to be more explicit with this. Also, we may want to think about offering View Help (contextual help for the current view) from a standard location in the GUI. UX input could be useful here.
