Installing grass-devel doesn't change anything.

Downloading source rpm, and extracting source code then building with:

The upcoming GRASS GIS 6.4.3 version will come with an improved g.extension script contained in the graphical user interface:

changelog:
http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/log/grass/branches/releasebranch_6_4/gui/scripts/g.extension.py

Comment 2 moabi2000 2013-05-13 09:58:58 UTC
Sure... but 6.4.3 is at RC3 but isn't even available in Rawhide. Which version of Fedora might get this version of Grass?

Comment 3 markusN 2013-05-23 12:46:13 UTC
I tested and identified the problem of the g.extension failure:

GRASS 6.4.2 (ll_wgs84):~ > g.extension r.out.maxent_swd

Fetching <r.out.maxent_swd> from GRASS-Addons SVN (be patient)...
A r.out.maxent_swd/r.out.maxent_swd
A r.out.maxent_swd/r.out.maxent_swd.html
A r.out.maxent_swd/Makefile
 U r.out.maxent_swd
Checked out revision 56377.
Compiling <r.out.maxent_swd>...
Makefile:5: /usr/lib64/grass-6.4.2/include/Make/Script.make: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `/usr/lib64/grass-6.4.2/include/Make/Script.make'. Stop.
ERROR: Compilation failed, sorry. Please check above error messages.

but

GRASS 6.4.2 (ll_wgs84):~ > ls -la /usr/lib64/grass-6.4.2/include
ls: cannot access /usr/lib64/grass-6.4.2/include: No such file or directory

Partial solution:

ln -s /usr/include/grass /usr/lib64/grass-6.4.2/include

But from the grass-devel-6.4.2-4.fc18.x86_64 package the directory
/usr/include/grass/Make
was stripped off which renders g.extension unusable on F18. Please
keep it in the grass-dev RPM. The problem is this line:
   rm -rf %{buildroot}%{_includedir}/Make

See
http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/grass.git/tree/grass.spec?h=f18#n230

Further packaging observation:
The directory name /usr/include/grass
should include the version number such as /usr/include/grass64
to avoid a clash with a parallel GRASS GIS 7 installation.

Comment 4 Fedora End Of Life 2013-07-03 22:09:44 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '17'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the
'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2013-07-31 23:49:48 UTC
Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 6 markusN 2013-08-01 07:08:00 UTC
FYI, new upstream version:

Comment 7 Volker Fröhlich 2013-10-10 21:06:51 UTC
moabi2000: F19 and up got 6.4.3 now.
