Please change the "enable pcscd.*" glob in 90-default.preset to only enable pcscd.socket. pcscd is a daemon that is started on demand and goes away when it's no longer needed. This is achieved through socket activation: pcscd.socket is supposed to be enabled by default, and it will start pcscd.service as needed. If nothing else, using socket activation will slightly improve the system boot speed. Thanks!
OK, corrected in git, will soon rebuild and push into F18.
