Description Kenneth Holladay 2000-01-19 04:44:55 UTC
I recently upgraded from rh6.0 to 6.1. Did not have Samba running on 6.0,
so decided to implement on small home network (1) Win95 and (2) Win98
machines. Am having great difficulty getting things going. Tried to use
smbstatus to see current state. Returns error message "Couldn't open
status file /var/lock/samba/STATUS..LCK" Yes, there are two dots in
there. Any clue?

smbstatus won't show anything until the first client connects.
