Description Martin Tarenskeen 2012-09-25 21:20:44 UTC
Description of problem:

jalv rpm package currently does not include jalv.gtk
could this be included? I did a rebuild from the src.rpm and I did get jalv.gtk in my package.
It works very well. (BTW: jalv.qt does not, and can be omitted.).

I am using jalv-1.0.0-2.fc17.i686

On drobilla.net/software/jalv/ it explictly says:

For testing with various host toolkits, there are several Jalv executables: jalv, jalv.gtk, jalv.gtkmm, and jalv.qt. The jalv and jalv.gtk programs are suitable for production use by users, the others are less complete and intended for developer testing only.

Therefore, IMO, jalv.qt and jalv.gtkmm should NOT be distributed in Fedora.
I have tested them though: they don't produce any usable GUI and seem to be unfinished work. jalv.gtk does give me a working GUI when opening most of the LV2 plugins that I have tried.

Package jalv-1.0.0-5.fc18:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 18 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing jalv-1.0.0-5.fc18'
as soon as you are able to.
Please go to the following url:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2012-14809/jalv-1.0.0-5.fc18
then log in and leave karma (feedback).

I disagree. The README states that they are intended also as a development tool. I think that alone merits inclusion.

I think the website is discouraging use in a production scenario, like a broadcast or performance etc.
