Description of problem:
GNOME 2 packages are supposed to provide a .pc file to be placed in
/usr/lib/pkgconfig so that pkg-config can automatically determine
build dependencies.  Some packages provide one, glib2 as well as some
others do not.

Obviously I needed to install glib2-devel.  Sorry for the bogus report.
