Description of problem: I updated my system (using yum) to the current iteration of Fedora 18 (between alpha and beta at the moment). The desktop effects in KDE, such as sliding from one workspace to the next, were fast in F17 but now they're slow. I'll be very happy to run any tests or provide any output you'd like. KDE is where I've noticed the problem, but I suspect it's not truly a KDE issue, which is why I marked this as xorg-x11-drv-intel as a starting point. The system is an Ivy Bridge with HD 4000 graphics, see additional info below. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.20.12-1.fc18.x86_64 kernel-3.6.2-2.fc18.x86_64 How reproducible: All the time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run KDE on Fedora 18. 2. Enable desktop effects and set the effect for desktop switching to "Slide". 3. Change desktops. On F17 it was smooth, on F18 it lurches in three or so jumps to the next screen

I have no explanation for this at all, but after two weeks of not working, this seems to be fixed. Sorry for the noise.
