Thanks. What are you using as a display manager? Or what is your secondary DE? Gnome? KDE? LXDE?

I'm not seeing libmate? Did you install each package one by one by hand? If so please do a yum reinstall @mate-desktop
Nevermind I see it now, still wondering answer to question number 2.

Do you have gtk2-engines installed? If not try installing that and rebooting.

Strange. Let me do some more investigating. What is your hardware setup? Also please paste the output of fpaste --sysinfo. Thanks.

I can reproduce the issue here when logged into a mate session, however it works fine in a cinnamon session https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6907158/Screenshot%20from%202012-10-30%2005%3A34%3A57.png I doubt that mate-terminal is at fault here.

Leigh, This is working fine on F18. I need to look into why this is happening on F17. Could be selinux, dbus, dbus-sharp or a few other things. Comps for MATE on F17 is different than F18. I'll dig deeper.
(In reply to comment #19) > Leigh, > > This is working fine on F18. > > I need to look into why this is happening on F17. Could be selinux, dbus, > dbus-sharp or a few other things. Comps for MATE on F17 is different than > F18. I'll dig deeper. F18 behaves the same as F17. Try reading the previos link I posted, YOU NEED COMPOSITING FOR TRUE TRANSPARENCY. Therefore I'm closing this report as NOTABUG.
leigh scott if comiz is required for that feature then it should be added as a dependency or if that's not possible then you can close it with CANTFIX -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
compiz is not required. please be patient.
(In reply to comment #22) > compiz is not required. please be patient. Whatever!
A solution to this issue is yum install xcompmgr then add xcompmgr to the startup applications, use xcompmgr -n as the command http://thristian.livejournal.com/75343.html Heres a screenshot https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6907158/Screenshot%20from%202012-10-30%2016%3A38%3A11.png
@leigh scott yeah its working now but still have some doubts, why xcompmgr is not added in the dependencies and Dan said its working in Fedora 18...Strange -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
