Description of problem: Unlocked KDE screensaver on monitor external to Lenovo W500. Screens went dark. I used Ctrl-Alt-F2 to switch to that "tty", then back to Ctrl-Alt-F1 in hopes of triggering main display again. No luck. Then used Fn-F7 to cycle between Laptop/External/Both displays, with a pause each time to see if it was working. No luck there, but KDE login screen appeared after a few presses of Fn-F7. There has been quite some instability in this area in the past few weeks, but I've not had much time to sort out any causes. Hopefull this crash data will help you.
