Thanks for a bug report. I think this is [1], which had been fixed for 3.6.2 of evolution. A workaround is to disable prefer-plain plugin, which means to go to Edit->Preferences->Mail Preferences->HTML Messages tab and at the "Plain Text Mode" section select "Show HTML if present", which avoids prefer-plain completely.
