Created attachment 639393 [details] How gvim looks after maximization.. Hi, I have found pretty annoying bug in Fedora 17 (other version untested). When you drag the window containing gvim (either by the top of widow or by the left 'alt' holding and clinking anywhere in the window) and you are trying to move the window to the top of a screen, after mouse release -> the window with gvim is maximized successfully, but is moved randomly to left/right. See the attachment. Reproducible: 100% I'm failing this against gvim because I see this problem only in gvim - all other gtk/qt apps are OK. Feel free to switch this to 'kde' if you think this is not about gvim. I'm using currently: vim-X11-7.3.638-2.fc17.x86_64 kde-workspace-4.9.2-3.fc17.x86_64 gtk2-2.24.11-1.fc17.x86_64 Thanks, Pavel
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '17'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
This seems to be known problem (taking google search into account). I still facing this problem on my f19 box. Feel free to close this if it is not a good place to track that problem.
It still happens with F20, but is not limited to gvim. The same happens with p.e. gnome-terminal. Not sure if that's caused by gtk, gdk or maybe kde. The offset seems to be related to where you grab the window and where the pointer hits the top of the screen, but I have no idea what calculates that offset and why that happens at all when a window should just get maximized. Have you tested this in a gnome environment ? If it doesn't happen there, I'd blame KDE.

Yes, it happens with F21 too, and it is reproducible with gnome-terminal or emacs too. > Have you tested this in a gnome environment ? If it doesn't happen there, > I'd blame KDE. I'm not sure what component should I choose, lets start with 'kwin'.

This seems to be fixed in F23 (KDE Frameworks 5). The only small glitch is that maximized window does not have the right dimensions -- the gvim's window width is like 5 pixels smaller than my monitor.
