Description vramik 2012-11-06 22:52:28 UTC
Description of problem:
Portal doesn't start if it's configured to run on oracle11gR1RAC,

There is log:
http://jenkins.mw.lab.eng.bos.redhat.com/hudson/view/EPP/view/6.0/view/UI%20Database%20Support/job/epp6_ui_selenium_tests_db_oracle11gR1RAC/18/console

Comment 1 Viliam Rockai 2012-11-14 16:10:33 UTC
I was able to start the same bundle, which is not working in this hudson job on perf14. I've downloaded the bundle from the job workspace, and I've manually checked that the user was created in the DB after I've created him in EPP.

This seems to be a hudson issue, I'm not able to reproduce it outside hudson.

Comment 2 Viliam Rockai 2012-11-15 13:58:35 UTC
I was able to reproduce the issue today. EPP with RAC1 must be started with clean DB, then it gets stucked with:

12:54:36,215 WARN [com.arjuna.ats.arjuna] (Transaction Reaper) ARJUNA012117: TransactionReaper::check timeout for TX 0:ffff0a1058a5:-1e8168ee:50994ceb:274b in state RUN

After AS restart, everything works fine as expected.

Comment 3 vramik 2012-11-19 01:05:09 UTC
I got this issue with oracle11gR2 too (not only with oracle11gR1RAC).

There is link to log: https://jenkins.mw.lab.eng.bos.redhat.com/hudson/view/EPP/view/6.0/view/UI%20Database%20Support/job/epp6_ui_selenium_tests_db_oracle11gR2/17/console

Comment 4 Viliam Rockai 2012-11-23 20:41:46 UTC
The problem with this (and other) databases seems to be in the way they are configured:

this seems to be the troubling part:
<transaction-isolation>TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED</transaction-isolation>
<pool>
<min-pool-size>10</min-pool-size>
<max-pool-size>50</max-pool-size>
<prefill>true</prefill>
</pool>
<statement>
<prepared-statement-cache-size>32</prepared-statement-cache-size>
<share-prepared-statements>true</share-prepared-statements>
</statement>

I don't know what was the motivation for these values, but when I comment this part in both datasources, my JPP 6.0 ER02 will start on OracleR1-RAC and is usable.

In some cases I've got NPE (...getcustom in workspace...) in the log (I blame slow DB from this), but the JPP will start and is usable anyway.

Comment 5 vramik 2012-12-16 22:25:15 UTC
Currently users which I use for oracle11gR1RAC doesn't have privileges to create table, so I'm blocked with verifying. There is link to related ticket https://engineering.redhat.com/rt/Ticket/Display.html?id=179187

Comment 6 vramik 2013-01-07 13:50:24 UTC
The issue is fixed in ER4.2
