Description David Jaša 2012-11-08 18:53:45 UTC
Description of problem:
per-user spice activex installation not available in Windows XP. This bug means that _user with administrator privileges_ has to "install for all users" the plugin on every computer.

This bug should also "de-kitchen-sink https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=872541#c6 (and latter comments).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
spice-client-msi-3.1-7

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. on clean XP client (in terms of 3.1 spicex installation), navigate to user/admin portal and hit "console" button
  a) as a regular user
  b) as a PowerUser or Administrator

Actual results:
a) nothing happens
b) only "install for all users" is offered when you click on the yellow bar

Expected results:
both cases: when you click the yellow bar, "install" option is offered

What's the bug? So you need an admin to install spice ActiveX for the users. So?
Also, unless you think it's a 3.1 blocker, don't propose it to 3.1.
Personally, I'd close-wontfix this. But I may be missing something.

It is supposed to not require admin privileges on all Windows version. I think we want to be consistant if possible.

Forgot that XP only support admin install of the ActiveX, so I second Yaniv, what is the bug?

OK, then we can safely close it (probably as CANTFIX) but it should be covered in the Release/Technical notes.
