grub2-2.0-0.38.beta6.fc17.x86_64

I do not see the grub(2-beta6) menu, all I see it's a
bundle of broken horizontal color lines.

It only happens on T61 - 14.1" 1440x900 (WXGA+) widescreen.
On a T61 - 14.1" 1400x1050 (SXGA+) is fine.

grub2-2.00-12.fc18.x86_64 works fine on this one: T61 - 14.1" 1400x1050 (SXGA+)

Yes, it is apparently related to using a wrong pitch on some displays. But better follow up on this on the other bug report you found.
