RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2016:0939 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE rhn-client-tools bug fix update 2016-05-10 22:55:02 UTC

Description Jan Hutař 2012-11-12 13:39:21 UTC
Description of problem:
Option noSSLServerURL was removed from the up2date config but it is still referenced from useNoSSLForPackages[comment]. This is confusing.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rhn-client-tools-1.0.0-87.el6.noarch

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Note comment in up2date config for useNoSSLForPackages option
2. Attempt to find noSSLServerURL in the config

Actual results:
useNoSSLForPackages[comment] refers to noSSLServerURL which is not in the config

Expected results:
It should be clear how to configure noSSLServerURL

Additional info:
As per bug 652424 comment #c12 on RHEL4 noSSLServerURL was configured automatically.

Comment 2 RHEL Program Management 2012-12-14 08:15:08 UTC
This request was not resolved in time for the current release.

Comment 9 Radovan Drazny 2016-01-21 13:21:31 UTC
"Reproduced" on RHEL 6.7 Server. Relevant lines in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date are as follows:

disallowConfChanges[comment]=Config options that can not be overwritten by a config update action
disallowConfChanges=noReboot;sslCACert;useNoSSLForPackages;noSSLServerURL;serverURL;disallowConfChanges;
<...>
useNoSSLForPackages[comment]=Use the noSSLServerURL for package, package list, and header fetching (disable Akamai)
useNoSSLForPackages=0

Note the mention of noSSLServerURL directive.

After installing a new server using the new build of rhn-client-tools, relevant lines contain following text:

disallowConfChanges[comment]=Config options that can not be overwritten by a config update action
disallowConfChanges=noReboot;sslCACert;useNoSSLForPackages;serverURL;disallowConfChanges;
<...>
useNoSSLForPackages[comment]=Use HTTP for package, package list, and header fetching (disable Akamai)
useNoSSLForPackages=0

Mentions of noSSLServerURL are gone.
