Description Lukáš Zachar 2012-11-15 21:12:30 UTC

Description of problem:

I have a laptop and external monitor.
My desired configuration is (as in the screenshot):
- laptop display on the right
- vga on the left

When I set this configuration and press 'Save as Default' the attached configuration is saved.

However after the log out/in the setting is not the same as I wish - displays overlap and:
LVDS1 is set Absolute 480x0
VGA1 is set Absolute 0x0

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kde-workspace-4.9.3-1.fc18
(but fc17 is affected too)

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. set configuration as described above
2. logout then login
3.

Actual results:
configuration is different

Expected results:
configuration is preserved

Additional info:
Might be a duplicate of bug 699024, but I tried both workarounds (\nxrandr -> \n/ and specifying --left-of) and it didn't help.

Comment 3 Lukáš Zachar 2012-11-15 21:34:18 UTC
It works (the configuration is loaded correctly and as I wish) when the command is

StartupCommands=xrandr --output LVDS1 --pos 480x0 --mode 1440x900 --refresh 59.9755 --output VGA1 --left-of LVDS1 --pos 0x0 --mode 1920x1080 --refresh 60 --noprimary

Meaning neither '\n' nor '\nxrandr' in it but with '--left-of LVDS1' parameter.
Just adding the parameter or changing '\nxrandr' doesn't help.

This annoying bug is reported for quite a while but the fix is hopefully coming soon.
