This crash seems to happen every time I login which I've done twice since the last reboot. The reboot was today because I installed a new kernel yesterday (Nov 23), together with a bunch of other stuff. I generally keep my system up-to-date by running yum update almost every day.
rpm -V xfdesktop said this: prelink: /usr/bin/xfdesktop: at least one of file's dependencies has changed since prelinking S.?...... /usr/bin/xfdesktop prelink: /usr/bin/xfdesktop-settings: at least one of file's dependencies has changed since prelinking S.?...... /usr/bin/xfdesktop-settings After I reinstalled xfdesktop (yum reinstall xfdesktop) I was able to start it. I'll try it for a bit longer before I'll close this.
It has worked properly three times now since I reinstalled xfdesktop. I'll call this a glitch and close the bug report.
