dso_list has already been added to a report but I accidently used a more descriptive name "backtrace_binaries_versions" :) commit 9a9fbcc09ab8d40213ec6f7f5ea02773a0e888f9 Author: Jakub Filak <jfilak> Date: Fri Oct 19 15:50:56 2012 +0200 provide a problem item containing versions of binaries listed in Xorg backtrace The problem is that the backtrace doesn't always contain all required binaries like in this case where intel_drv.so is not listed. ABRT should go through Xorg.log and provide versions of the loaded binaries.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '17'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Providing exactly the same dso_list as we do for coredump crashes is difficult. For coredumps, we save /proc/PID/maps. From this information we query names/packages/versions of mapped files (many of these files are DSOs). Xorg log watcher can't do the first step: we can't catch /proc/PID/maps of X server process. Currently, we do not try to find current active X process which writes the log we watch, and at the moment the crash is seen in the log the process is likely already gone. I just wish Xorg would drop its homegrown SEGV handler and let us do our work...
abrt-action-list-dsos can be coerced into formatting dso_list from Xorg backtrace instead of maps file. The following modification is needed: def parse_maps(maps_path): try: f = xopen(maps_path, "r") # set() -> uniqifies the list of filenames return set([x.strip()[x.find('/'):].split()[0] for x in f.readlines() if x.find('/') > -1]) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ added in line above: .split()[0] -- this removes everything after first whitespace after the filename. Maps file has no such whitespace, Xorg backtrace does.
Patches sent to ML.
