Doc Text:
In Red Hat JBoss Data Grid, when special characters are used in the directory path, the JBoss Data Grid server either fails to start or a configuration file used for logging cannot be loaded properly. Special characters that cause problems include spaces, <literal>#</literal> (hash sign), <literal>!</literal> (exclamation mark), <literal>%</literal> (percentage sign), and <literal>$</literal> (dollar sign). This is a known issue in JBoss Data Grid 6.4. A workaround for this issue is to avoid using special characters in the directory path.

Description Tomas Sykora 2012-11-29 15:14:39 UTC
For related info please see JIRA: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBQA-7353

Comment 1 Tristan Tarrant 2012-12-05 13:32:05 UTC
Paths are parsed by the EAP components so this is probably an EAP issue. Since ER5 will be based on EAP 6.0.1 it would be a good idea to retest it with that.

Comment 2 Tomas Sykora 2012-12-20 05:25:34 UTC
ER6 on Windows - all cases (characters in path) can start server now. This was fixed for $ sign.

But I can still experience some problems in locating logging prop. file.
See: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBQA-7353 for details please.

Not sure about setting BZ to Verified because of problem [1] in JIRA.

Comment 3 Tomas Sykora 2013-01-07 08:54:07 UTC
Again, please, see details in https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBQA-7353. Exclamation mark at the end of directory name causes problems.

I am setting BZ back to ON_DEV because of problems [1] for Windows and [3] for exclamation mark.

Comment 6 JBoss JIRA Server 2013-03-12 08:44:57 UTC
Ivo Studensky <istudens> made a comment on jira JBPAPP-10411

The issues with national characters and white-spaces should now be fixed. Note that white-space issues of webservices are covered by JBPAPP-10417.
