Description of problem: unison fails to start: 'Fatal error: out of memory.'

How reproducible: Always (on two different machines).


Steps to Reproduce:
1. type: /usr/bin/unison-2.40
2. See:  Fatal error: out of memory.
3. Wonder: how was this tested?
