Description of problem: I have gnome3 and mate installed. As I see at F18 beta stage mate is still incomplete or I not installed the base package for mate installing all necessary components. I guess there is some interference between gnome-settings-daemon and mate-settings-daemon or the latter is faulty. I get similar traces when try to save some settings in mate. As I reconstruct the steps leading to this error were: A windows was opening saying disk space is low in /zene I marked the never ask/warn on filesystem space of this filesystem checkbox. The dialog was closed immediately and the abrtd come in with the crash report. I did not seen (yet) other events leading to mate-settings-daemon crash.
1) How did you install MATE? If via the netinstall without any others please run: yum reinstall @mate --enablerepo=updates-testing 2) Gnome3 and MATE should NOT conflict.
Ran the "yum reinstall @mate --enablerepo=updates-testing" command, the updated everything to updates-testing, installed missing packages from mate via "yum install @mate", but this bug still reappeared. Abrtd started to collect the details but probably decided not tho bother you about the updated mate-settings daemon. (At least I did not noticed if automatic bug report sent.)
OK. Will look into this. Thanks.
Are you still experiencing this issue? How to reproduce?
*** Bug 889634 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I am still getting these coredumps every time the disk space monitor is due to show the warning.. The reproduces is: [bne@panther chrony]$ dd of=/zene/semmi if=/dev/zero dd: writing to ‘/zene/semmi’: No space left on device 1767369+0 records in 1767368+0 records out 904892416 bytes (905 MB) copied, 10.9145 s, 82.9 MB/s Then the dialog pops up, I choose the Ignore... toggle button and immediately the bug is triggered. Now I repeated with the /transmission filesystem, but no popup appeared yet. The specific of my /zene filesystem it contains Russian and Hungarian file names, some of them may have incorrect UTF8 strings. As the popup for /transmission appears, will report the outcome.
Created attachment 690941 [details] Second backtrace of this problem
Same thing happened to me when "filesystem is almost full" dialog appeared and I tried to check the "Don't warn me again about this" checkbox. I've attached a "second backtrace" of this problem.
in comment # 19 you see the correct text on the checkbox.
Wicked abrt-gui does not offer augmenting the bug with other cases, once reported - or has a similar, already reported bug from say F14. Will file a bug soon. The original issue, the selected keyboard layout not showing up in gnome-panel where it intended to show up, selected system->preferences->keyboard to trigger it showing up, but this time got an other death of mate-settings-daemon. We have issue with mate-settings in general.
The possibility of incorrect UTF8 strings involved in this BZ mentioned in comment 17 vanished, my boot filestem surely, my transmisson filesystem likely to not contain such errors but are triggering the bug.
Have you updated to mwm-1.5.3 as noted in the other bug?

I wanted to wether see this version of mate-setting-daemon is improving my situation or not. The monitor configuration and disk space exhausted issues solved. Playing with the keyboard settings resulted in this crash. backtrace_rating: 4 cmdline: /usr/libexec/mate-settings-daemon crash_function: strcmp executable: /usr/libexec/mate-settings-daemon kernel: 3.7.8-202.fc18.x86_64 package: mate-settings-daemon-1.5.4-3.fc18 reason: Process /usr/libexec/mate-settings-daemon was killed by signal 11 (SIGSEGV) uid: 303
(I meant ... see wether ...) My window manager is mate-window-manager-1.5.3-3.fc18.x86_64. I do a sudo yum -y update often (approx daily), so expect all packages from updates and updates-testing repo installed.
Package mate-settings-daemon-1.5.4-3.fc17: * should fix your issue, * was pushed to the Fedora 17 testing repository, * should be available at your local mirror within two days. Update it with: # su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing mate-settings-daemon-1.5.4-3.fc17' as soon as you are able to.
