Description of problem: I was running libreoffice calc. I scrolled down by clicking on the down arrow of the vertical scrollbar, not moving the mouse. After several clicks, the application stopped scrolling and the error occurred. I have noticed this behavior before. It is almost as if the mouse is moving slightly, one or two pixels, even though the actual mouse icon doesn't move. I installed xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.12.4-7.fc17. The xorg xerver did not crash, but I still see the issue I referred to where I place the cursor in the scroll area, click repeatedly to scroll down, then the cursor changes to the resize-right-side-of-window shape, even though the position is still within the scroll area and hasn't moved. That is, even though the position on the screen doesn't change, it seems like the server thinks the mouse is moving slightly to the right with each mouse click. I am sure I am not moving the mouse because it is a trackball. One thing that I noticed when trying to get visual evidence of this is that when I do a screen shot within the virtual machine, it shows the position of the cursor on the window edge, not in the middle of the scrollbar area as is shown on the screen. I have included two screen shots. The photo.scrollbar.jpeg is what I see on the screen and screenshot.scrollbar.png is what the virtual machine thinks it should be displaying.

Created attachment 745084 [details] screenshot showing the scrollbar area This is a screen shot taken from the virtual machine. Note that the cursor is on the edge of the window even though I have not moved it. Note also the difference in position compared with photo.scrollbar.jpeg.
xorg-x11-server-1.12.4-7.fc17 has been pushed to the Fedora 17 stable repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
The issue still exists. The console still shows that the cursor is not moving but it changes shape as if it has been moved to the edge of the window even though I haven't moved the trackball. In comment 12 I had noted that I had installed xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.12.4.7.fc17. I don't see any package called xorg-x11-server available, just xorg-x11-server-Xorg. Am I right in assuming that the xorg-x11-server-Xorg package is derived from the xorg-x11-server source?
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '17'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
