Description of problem: There are lots of mangled characters in VT after a minimal install from DVD. Lots of characters like apostrophes and ascii-art lines are not displayed correctly. See minimal.png. I don't know why, but booting with LANG=en_US.UTF-8 improves the situation. findmnt output is no longer mangled, but rm still prints (different) mangled characters. See minimal with LANG.png. The same output you'll get with GNOME install (instead of minimal), even though there is no LANG boot option. Also TC3 LiveCD behaves the same - findmnt is fine, rm is not. But if I ssh into the machine (in any case), characters are printed properly on my terminal. So it seems like a rendering issue. > # rm foobar > rm: cannot remove ‘foobar’: No such file or directory Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): anaconda 18.37.8 smoke12 DVD http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/qa/20121221_f18-smoke12/ TC3 Live Desktop x86_64 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. do a minimal install from DVD 2. use findmnt and rm to see mangled characters Additional info: I don't know which component to assign this to. Please advise if you know.
