Description of problem: fp-ide: No debugger support available Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): fpc-2.6.0-2.fc17.i686.rpm How reproducible: Trying to use debug functionality in the fp ide does not work. Clicking for instance "Debug->Watches" in the IDE produces the error "No debugger support available" Additional info: fp (from fpc package) must be compiled with gdb support.
That's not possible without libgdb, which is not build in the gdb-package that ships with Fedora.
It's possible: http://sisyphus.ru/en/srpm/Sisyphus/gdb/spec or use: ftp://ftp.freepascal.org/pub/fpc/contrib/libgdb/
I patched the fpc-2.6.0-2.fc17.src.rpm so that it collects FPC-2.6.2 with debugger GDB-7.5.1, support russian code page IBM 866 and the patch fixes some bugs. Installing the debugger in sistem is not required, all compiled into one package. Only during the assembly of the pdf documentation system several times to ask a question to be answered is: qqqq The package has been tested on the platform of x86-64, i686 I have not got. src.rpm: http://yadi.sk/d/vLGWgHJE4GsM9 x86-64 rpm: http://yadi.sk/d/7mva3cvc4GsMP Details in russian: http://forum.russianfedora.ru/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5430
Russian project fp-ide: ftp://ftp.mageialinux.ru/mageia2/SRPMS/ has in package fp-ide-2.6.0-20 (and later) gdb support. In src.rpm you can find all patches for gdb+fp, spec and other patches for fp.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '17'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
There are new fp-ide-2.6.2 with gdb 7.5.1: ftp://ftp.mageialinux.ru/mageia2/SRPMS
Please build packages: http://code.google.com/p/fp-ide-ru http://code.google.com/p/fp-ide-en and this bug will be fixed.
