RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2014:1568 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE selinux-policy bug fix and enhancement update 2014-10-14 01:27:37 UTC

Description Paul Bransford 2013-01-11 15:53:42 UTC
Description of problem:
SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/icecast from name_bind access on the tcp_socket. But only if a port other than 8000 has been configured.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
2.3.3.1.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
100% reproducible

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install icecast via epel repository
2. leave SELinux in enforcing mode
3. edit "/etc/icecast.xml" and configure icecast to bind a port other than 8000
3. attempt to start icecast daemon

Actual results:
Icecast daemon starts but is unable to create the listening TCP socket

Expected results:
Icecast daemon starts with normal operation, provided port is > 1024. If port is <= 1024, access would be denied via normal non-selinux means due to root restriction on those ports.

Additional info:
I have Icecast configured to bind on all interfaces, the port 8080, which is not a restricted low-level port. The default port, 8000, will work.

sealert parsing of audit log:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/icecast from name_bind access on the tcp_socket .

***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests ***************************

If you believe that icecast should be allowed name_bind access on the tcp_socket by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
Do
allow this access for now by executing:
# grep icecast /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol
# semodule -i mypol.pp
