Description Rakshith Reddy 2013-01-15 21:47:28 UTC
Description of problem:
1. Boot using Live USB
2. On Start chose Try Fedora
3. Once logged in chose the Install to HDD option
4. Had not configured either Wired or Wireless till this point, so the installer prompted to configure them in Step 2 of the installer
5. Selected the wireless option, gave the wireless password as prompted and clicked on continue which caused the installer to crash

The crash was triggered by configuring wireless device in panel while being in installer network configuration screen.

To workaround this you can:

1) either configure wireless using panel before starting the installation or anywhere except on the installer network configuration screen (recommended)

2) or configure wireless on installer network configuration screen which means selecting Wireless in the list, selecting NetworkName, clicking [Configure], entering password in [WiFi Security] tab and [Save]ing the configuration.

I was trying Fedora 18 x64 on an USB.
I played with Wireshark (as root) for one hour, then I wanted to install Fedora on my HDD.
I started the install (while being in the GUI), it asked me for a network connections necessary for updates, I specified the network...and here I got the error.
Maybe playing with Wireshark modified some network files...

On an older T510 box, I clicked on the Wi-Fi icon in the top right corner and configured wifi access. After that, I selected language in the graphic installer and on the next screen, I clicked on Wifi. Wifi is connected and on hitting Continue, this bug poped up.

We're well past anaconda 19.3 now and we've had no dupe reports from F19, so this looks fixed. Let's close it. (For those who hit this with F18: we're sorry, we can't fix installer bugs in older releases, but it ought to be fixed with F19 and later).
