Description of problem: The installer crashed while installing Fedora 18 x86-64 I configured a few parameters before launching the installation: - network static configuration (we dont have a DHCP server) - language, keyboard layout... I launched the installer, choose a manual partition - 2 partitions for Linux, replacing an existing 90Gio partition (with Fedora 17): - A 20Gio partition for / - A 70 Gio partition for /home - No modification to the existing NTFS partition (3 partitions for boot, system and recovery) The installation started, I configured the root password... and got an error. Installing with default partition options. Earliar I had problems because laptop has an internal wwan card. But I could proceed with update posted by Radek Vykydal in Bug 893892 Package: anaconda-18.37.11-1.fc18.x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 18
Downloaded new fedora x86_64 live cd Tried to install to hard drive Partitions formatted ok System copied to HD ok Then crash Tried to install a second time and got the same error. So I can't install fedora 18 Package: anaconda-18.37.11-1.fc18.x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 18
This bug is triggered by editing (saving) network configuration of a wired device before starting installation on Live CD (happens both for static and dhcp). A workaround is to configure the newtork after launching the installation, e.g. when on welcome screen.

My Fedora is now installed and works correctly - John

(In reply to comment #13) > I changed the name of the network config file to ifcfg-em1 and that solved > my problem - John Yes, changing the name of the ifcfg file to ifcfg-<interface name>, or the name of the connection in Connection Editor to name of the interface is another possible workaround.
I was seeing the same error, but I think it was triggered for a different reason. The file that anaconda complained that it didn't exist was /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ttyUSB1 that did NOT exist in any form. It may be triggered because my laptop has an internal wwan card and I don't know if it's detected as ttyUSB1 (I also suffered bug 893892 that was corrected with the update) I could finish the installation manually creating a minimal /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ttyUSB1

Fixed long ago for F19 and we have had no dupe reports; let's close this. If anyone sees this on F19, please re-open.
