Description of problem: The errata glibc-devel package cannot be installed. The install version of ntpl-devel requires glibc-devel, but there is no updated version of ntpl-devel to match the updated version of glibc-devel. This means that the updated glibc-devel cannot be installed. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): glibc-devel-2.3.2-27.9.i386.rpm How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install RHL9, including the development packages 2. try to upgrade all the errata packages (rpm -Fvh *) Actual Results: get failure on glibc-devel, becuase the installed nptl-devel package requires the install version of glibc-devel. Expected Results: There should be an updated version of ntpl-devel that will work with the updated version of glibc-devel.
Yes there is, eg. at http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/updates/9/en/os/i686/nptl-devel-2.3.2-27.9.i686.rpm
Oh my, don't I feel sheepish now. It was there all along in my local mirror, just hiding out in the i686 directory. All is well know.
