Description of problem: As described in detail here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=872826 Anaconda no longer allows the installation of a bootloader into the beginning of a partition (even though it's only unsafe depending on the file system of that partition -- would be nice to see this blanket ban be lifted). (aside: My use case for not installing to MBR is that it has, in the past, overwritten the custom bootloader shipped with Sony laptops and thus preventing a quick shortcut-based access to the recovery partition - which probably wouldn't do wonders for the resale value were I to sell the device to someone who doesn't use Linux. I can live with being made to install GRUB manually, though, even though I think it should be better documented) The one downside is that grub2-tools no longer ships /etc/default/grub - that being written by Anaconda - and Anaconda does not write this file unless it is told to install the bootloader. From what I can tell it's not strictly necessary to have this file - my system seems to boot fine without all the LUKS, MD etc. kernel parameters - but it'd be nice to have this file just in case. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): anaconda-18.37.11-1.fc18.x86_64 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install F18 2. Choose not to install bootloader 3. ls -l /etc/default | grep grub Actual results: /etc/default/grub not found Expected results: Additional info:
