Can you reproduce this every time? What disk is in your CD drive?

I believe that this happens after insertion of a disc. I'm using D.V.D. in a C.D./D.V.D. drive. I haven't tried with C.D. I'm not sure about these two other pieces of information, but I've had Handbrake using the disc and the laptop shut while using an external monitor (which has been causing difficulties).
Occurred for me immediately after inserting a USB drive. The USB drive was an install drive created from lubuntu-12.10-alternate-i386.iso. (I.e. I had used dd to write the image to the drive. I don't expect there's anything wrong with the drive contents, because I successfully installed Lubuntu from it yesterday. And I had verified the image checksum before I wrote it to the drive).
I hit this too, sticking a movie DVD into my CDROM drive. I just sent a patch to libosinfo list fixing the crash.
I just plugged my external DVD burner loaded with a blank DVD. backtrace_rating: 4 Package: libosinfo-0.2.3-1.fc18 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 18 (Spherical Cow)
Looks like this has been fixed upstream: http://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/libosinfo.git/commit/?id=e17fc3a461a70c7a2a881d48eb2d79d4b852c050
libosinfo-0.2.3-2.fc18 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 18. https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/libosinfo-0.2.3-2.fc18
fixed in libosinfo-0.2.3-2.fc18 -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
Seems to happen for me when DVD is in my Laptop DVD Drive -- confirms previous reports...
(In reply to comment #22) > Seems to happen for me when DVD is in my Laptop DVD Drive -- confirms > previous reports... Even with libosinfo-0.2.3-2.fc18 ?
all my work in LibreOffice got wiped out. I have all the latest updates
nvm LibreOffice "recovered" my work.
@joB are you using libosinfo-0.2.3-2.fc18 ?? @quickbooks.office its not pushed to stable yet you can install it by enabling updates-testing repo yum --enablerepo=updates-testing install libosinfo -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
libosinfo-0.2.3-2.fc18 has been pushed to the Fedora 18 stable repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
I am still seeing this issue even with 0.2.3-2, it seems to trigger when I have a movie in my DVD player.
Christian, when this happens, does 'osinfo-detect $DVD_DEVICE' segfault?
Closing as CURRENTRELEASE, if anyone is still reproducing with latest libosinfo, please try 'osinfo-detect $DEVICE' as suggested in Comment #29 and report the results here.
Cole, comment #28 says it's happening with current release, I'd suggest we keep this open but set NEEDINFO.
(In reply to comment #31) > Cole, comment #28 says it's happening with current release, I'd suggest we > keep this open but set NEEDINFO. Okay, reopening.
(In reply to comment #29) > Christian, when this happens, does 'osinfo-detect $DVD_DEVICE' segfault? Setting NEEDINFO
Ok, been trying and it seems gone now. Thanks for the fix.
Ok, let's close as CURRENTRELEASE then until someone reproduces it with newer versions.
