Description Matt Bagley 2013-01-20 09:41:59 UTC
Description of problem:
When trying to rip a cd, it displays "Could not find audiocd:/ protocol. Please install the audiocd ioslave". I am running it under XFCE.

Description of fix:
Installing 'audiocd-kio' fixed the problem, per the error msg. (I tried installing 'kdemultimedia-kio_audiocd' but yum instead picked this one? Just so you know... I'll leave that to you). Anyways, it needs this package to operate.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Version 1.3
KDE 4.9.5

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install it under XFCE using yum (with few or no KDE utilities)
2. open and try to rip a cd
3. Errors with "Could not find audiocd:/ protocol. Please install the audiocd ioslave"
4. Install 'audiocd-kio'
5. Restart program
6. Successfully rip the cd.

Actual results:
Error msg

Expected results:
Rip CD

Additional info:
I do not have the kde desktop installed so I can't verify if it also happens there, though I doubt it, as this is a basic component that would be pulled by other programs. But that's assuming they install all the programs and don't have a bare bones install of kde...

This may be fixed in Fedora 18. I just haven't upgraded yet.
