I inserted a SD card into the card reader. Some disk activity happened. The crash was reported.

Fedora lost the connection to an external USB 1TB WD drive after I had left the computer idle for 2-3 hours.
I have seen similar connection losses and could repair them by unplugging the external drive, powering down and  restart and then, when Fedora is up and running again, plug in the external drive and all is well.
