RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

lsblk_and_list-harddrives.png

Attaching also outputs of lsblk and list-harddrives commands.

Comment 10 Chris Lumens 2013-01-23 15:05:21 UTC
I suppose they could be live-related. Those are the only things in your storage.log I see as reporting 0 size, but I would have thought we'd run into those problems already. If you hover the mouse over them, do you get any more identifying information?

Comment 11 Pavel Holica 2013-01-29 09:40:44 UTC
Those may be 2 drives that are marked in BIOS/UEFI as Virtual floppy and Virtual CD-ROM. Those are not visible by anaconda on the same system in RHEL-6 anaconda.

On hover those drives show:
sda | 20080519
sda | 20080519

Comment 12 Chris Lumens 2013-01-31 15:01:23 UTC
Well, I've got a commit for this pushed for anaconda-19.3. Unfortunately those builds are not being pulled into RHEL7 at the moment, for understandable reasons. How do you want to handle the resolution?

Comment 13 Pavel Holica 2013-01-31 15:20:13 UTC
anaconda-19 is ok, we can have this bug in alpha3 since it doesn't block anything.

I still can test the fix however on newer anaconda either on Fedora or using internal anaconda builds.

Comment 14 Michal Kovarik 2013-11-01 11:36:41 UTC
0b drives are still visible in custom partitioning. There are visible in UNKNOWN system. If I try to delete this 0b UNKNOWN drive, bug 960794 is appeared.

Comment 15 Chris Lumens 2013-11-01 14:04:01 UTC
Please, when you reopen a bug, attach details - log files, pictures, etc.

anaconda-tb after removing 0b device

Comment 18 Chris Lumens 2013-12-18 19:15:18 UTC
Do you remember what steps you took? Did the disks in question appear on the first storage screen you saw? If not, did they just later appear on custom storage, or did you do something special to cause that to happen?

Comment 19 Michal Kovarik 2014-01-02 09:43:57 UTC
0b devices are showed on custom storage (see attachment 818298 [details]), they are not showed on first storage screen. These 0b devices are card readers (every supported card type is showed as 0b device, except SD reader)

Comment 22 Ľuboš Kardoš 2014-01-30 14:29:17 UTC
Issue as is described in comment 19 is also in anaconda-19.31.54-1. Traceback (attachment 857511 [details]) is from attempt to remove this 0b device.

Comment 25 Chris Lumens 2014-02-12 20:18:41 UTC
I am going to need actual, physical, in-person hardware to work on this. I'll try to find some around here but if anyone knows of any in Westford, that would be very helpful.

Comment 26 Pavel Holica 2014-02-24 12:43:06 UTC
I'm not aware of any system in westford, but it seems, that any system with non-SD card reader should be sufficient.
We have such system in BRQ office available, so any anaconda guy in BRQ can come and test on it.

Comment 30 Vratislav Podzimek 2014-09-04 11:28:47 UTC
This is a python-blivet's issue and the patch is already applied in Rawhide.
