Description of problem: Starting with the official Fedora 18 release gnome-shell stopped working with the 3D VMware drivers, which is severe because gdm uses it for its greeter which means that it's impossible to login/install the distro. In all of the Fedora 18 betas everything was fine, but in the official release something seems to block gnome-shell from coming up and it seems to be stuck somewhere (it's still possible to switch to tty and nothing seems to be crashing, it just sits there). The screen is stuck on the blue background and the black top menu (Activities, Data/time... stuff) just never appears. Were there any significant changes between betas and the final release? Or are there some tests/examples that would make debugging this a bit easier? I'm not very (at all) familiar with gnome-shell. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Whatever Fedora 18 official iso's have. I think it's 3.6.2. How reproducible: By starting a Fedora 18 iso in any vmware product. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start the Fedora 18 live cd. 2. 3. Actual results: gnome-shell doesn't show up Expected results: gnome-shell shows up Additional info:
This has been fixed in commit dbb2d192de33064ae6cdb799d71c5ac89a6ea8ff in the Mesa3D repository. We can close it or wait until the next stable Mesa3D hits the Fedora 18 repositories (should be 9.0.3) and close it then.

FWIW, I had a bunch of updated coming in yesterday and it works now out of the box.
