Description Matthew Saltzman 2013-01-24 15:34:47 UTC
Description of problem:
When scrolling through a mailing list digest in MIME format, the buttons for the pulldown menus associated with individual messages come loose from the rest of the window and float away from the messages.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
evolution-3.6.3-1.fc18.x86_64

How reproducible:
Most of the time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Read a MIME long digest message in Vertical View
2. Scroll down quickly
3.

Actual results:
Pulldown menu buttons move faster than the rest of the window contents

Expected results:
All window contents move together

Additional info:
This seems to be a regression from F17.

Thanks for a bug report. After a quick testing it works fine for me. I think this is a webkit issue, because once evolution generates the page it doesn't touch it, definitely not during scrolling - as far as I know. I use webkitgtk3-1.10.1-1.fc18.x86_64.

Comment 2 Matthew Saltzman 2013-01-24 17:27:24 UTC
I have webkitgtk3-1.10.2-1.fc18.x86_64.

It may be that it happens under some kind of load, as it is not consistent. I'll try to identify better what circumstances cause it to occur.

Comment 3 Matthew Saltzman 2013-01-24 17:31:47 UTC
Try this: Hit the Send/Receive button and scroll the message while the progress bars are changing.

A colleague showed me what to do. I was scrolling with a mouse wheel, while he was dragging the scrollbar button. With that I see the attachment buttons are slightly behind the text move, but they stay at the correct place after a second. let's see what webkitgtk3 developers will find out. I do not expect anything being done wrong on evolution side, the widgets are just real widgets pasted inside the webkit's canvas as a plugin.

I get the effect scrolling with a touchpad also. Yes the icons do end up in the correct place once scrolling stops.

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2013-12-21 10:47:18 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 18 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 18. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '18'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 18's end of life.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be
able to fix it before Fedora 18 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior to Fedora 18's end of life.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 7 Fedora End Of Life 2014-02-05 18:26:36 UTC
Fedora 18 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2014-01-14. Fedora 18 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
