Description of problem: nautilus freezing after click on "Properties" on a video file. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): nautilus.x86_64 3.6.3-4.fc18 How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. right-click on video file 2. click on "properties" 3. nautilus is freezed, I must close window with "force quit" Actual results: nautilus freezed Expected results: Open properties windows without freeze Additional info:
Also after nautilus force quitting, I've many problems, like mouse click and keyboard malfunctions. I think that this is an high severity bug because through a simple operation (right click on a file properties), we have a completely unusable system.
Hi, I couldn't get nautilus to freeze on my machine after right-clicking a video file and going to properties. Do you have an gnome-shell extensions enabled? Could you post some logs? (/var/log/messages, ~/.xsession-errors) Thanks.
Hi, I've these extensions installed: Caffeine Gnome Shell Extension Weather by Neroth Places Status Indicator Recent Items Remove Accessibility Shopping Search Provider system-monitor User Themes I'll attach .xsession-errors and /var/log/messages

I'm still having this problem, also with another notebook. Right click on video properties and window freezes. No extension enabled. nautilus.x86_64 3.6.3-5.fc18 @updates-testing nautilus-actions.x86_64 3.2.2-2.fc18 @fedora
Maybe I found the source of the problem: Tha package affeccted seem to be this: nautilus-sound-converter-3.0.2-2.fc18.x86_64 With this package installed, I've the bug previously mentioned. I'll change component entry in this report.
This is caused by n-s-c still using gstreamer-0.10 instead of gstreamer-1.0. Hopefully, I'll have some free time to finish porting it over.
i am also having this issue on f18 64 bit. running nautilus from the terminal i get this. Removing totem-nautilus and brasero-nautilus resloved it for me... Nautilus no longer crashes on right click/properties of video files...

Nautilus 3.8.2-1 x86_64 fc19 now has this fault. Prior to 5-Sep-2013, nautilus did not demonstrate this issue on my fc19 fresh install. (Previously had upgraded 18 -> 19). Only displaying properties page of media files (.jpg, .avi, .mp4, etc) seem to be impacted. text, tars, dirs, etc seem unimpacted and operating normally. Nautilus does not crash. It simply hangs and requires a force-quit or a sigterm from the shell.
nautilus-sound-converter.x86_64 0:3.0.2-3.fc19 seemed to be the cause of this for me. Removal stopped the freezing on Properties.
I think this just happened to me using fedora 20.
I just ran into this on Fedora 20. This time the culprit was totem-nautilus and removing it resolved the problem. nautilus-3.10.1-4.fc20.x86_64 totem-nautilus-3.10.1-1.fc20.x86_64
This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 19 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-01-06. Fedora 19 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
