Description Len DiMaggio 2013-01-29 20:07:26 UTC
Description of problem:

I don't think this is a new problem, but I don't think I followed this exact path before - and it's a confusing path for the user.

Disclaimer/workaround - If the user creates a SOA server as a first step, then he won't see this problem.

Steps:

1) Install SOA-P 5.3 or 5.3.1 (outside of JBDS)
2) Install JBDS 5.0.2
3) Install SOA Tooling 5.0.3
4) Create a server runtime definition for the SOA server
5) Create an ESB runtime definition for the 4.11 ESB runtime in the SOA server
6) Help-> Project Examples-> ESB 5.0 Examples -> Helloworld
7) The install dialog then asks the user to install a runtime (see screenshot 1)
8) But - the user must:
   a) Select the server runtime, then
   b) Check the ESB runtime detector checkbox, then
   c) Select the ESB runtime link, then
   d) Select the ESB runtime from the runtime list dialog
   In order to install the quicktime without error

It seems like step 8a should be enough for the user to do - sub steps b-d should be automatic.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
SOA 5.3.1
JBDS 5.0.2
SOA Tooling 5.0.3

But - I just confirmed that this problem has been there since at least JBDS 5/SOA 5.3/SOA tooling 5.0.2

Note that in the description is

'Example requires a JBoss Enterprise SOA Platform 5.x runtime.'

Comment 4 Andrej Podhradsky 2013-01-30 10:53:03 UTC
But you are right. I'm not able to create the appropriate runtime using the 'Install' button (the field found is still unchecked)

Comment 5 Andrej Podhradsky 2013-01-30 19:04:23 UTC
The following workaroung works for me

1. Help-> Project Examples-> ESB 5.0 Examples -> Helloworld
2. The install dialog then asks the user to install a runtime
3. Click Install
4. Add the appropriate server runtime
5. Click OK
6. The install dialog should shows the field 'Found' checked
