The kind folks in #latex recommended I file this. They said it might have to do with the bundled pdflatex being development:

this is caused by a clash with url.sty from old style shipped by latex2html.

Hi,

I don't have the latex2html package installed.

Can you reopen / suggest a different fix please?

Hi Jindrich,

If you'd be able to help with a different fix, it would be much appreciated. Unfortunately I believe this is a different bug since I don't have the latex2html package installed.

Hello,

you are right. I've tried to compile the reproducer with the latest texlive which will be shipped with upcoming Fedora update and it seems fixed as it compiles the source with correct results. I will keep you in loop with the update announce.

Hi,

I tested these updates today, and they did *NOT* fix the issue.

As a workaround, I sadly had to use ubuntu to compile my latex, and it worked perfectly.

It seems that your local installation is broken. I suspect amsfonts package or general font issue. Could you please yum remove texlive packages and reinstall them? (also removing everything from /var/lib/texmf and ~/.texlive2012) I can't see this in a fresh installation so this will fix your issue I believe.

Cool. It works now.
I only had to remove ~/.texlive2012/ and now it's fixed.
I've never done anything there myself, so who knows how that happened.
