Description of problem: Lenovo Thinkpad w520 with encrypted disk. New installation of Fedora 18 development tree, 1 day installed with all identified updates applied will not restore from either suspend or restore. Restore from Suspension. From full operational mode, closing the laptop lid starts suspension and this is working. On re-opening the laptop lid the disk light and leds cycles -ledss on keyboard and volume control flash 3 sec on and sec off. This is the full extent of operation. I believe that both issues are linked. Restore from Hibernation. From full operation, invoke hibernation:- #systemctl hibernate The machine hibernates successfully. When powering on, the result should be a boot, login and restore of machine at point of hibernation. On power-on, boot screen and instead of Login screen, the screen is completely covered with a set of repeated stair-case patterns in black-and white. The machine must be rebooted and then after a power cycle, the machine starts up and is fully operational. I have a Lenovo w510, which was upgraded from F17 to F18 and I have no problem with either suspension or hibernation. How reproducible: Issue described occurs every time and easy to replicate Steps to Reproduce Suspend Issue: 1. Laptop is fully operational from power-on 2. Close the laptop lid and wait for "crescent sleep indicator to be active 3. Open laptop lid and resumption operation starts 4. Disk Operation with other LEDs are active and then inactive, this ON-OFF activity cycles until powered off manually. Actual results: Laptop suspends but does not restore Expected results: On opening lid, laptop should restore state from disk and be fully operational. This machine works properly with F16. My W510 operates with F17 and F18 migrated from F17. Additional info: I have performed a number of suspend and resume tests, and the results should be in this file.
