Are you running MATE or another DE?
No response from original reporter.. cannot reproduce this.
I am seeing this with Mate DE. If I run mate-terminal from another shell, I get: GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.system.proxy.http' does not contain a key named 'use-http-proxy' Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) Also, "gsettings list-keys org.gnome.system.proxy.http" returns: authentication-password authentication-user enabled host port use-authentication
This should be re-opened. I can reproduce this: I am seeing this, too, with the Mate desktop, and I see the same error message. This error started immediately after I set a proxy via system settings (System >> Preferences >> Network Proxy, in Mate). If I turn off the system proxy, mate-terminal runs fine. If I re-enable the system proxy, mate-terminal starts giving this error again. Running it under gdb, I get the following backtrace: #0 0x000000333444ec67 in g_logv () from /lib64/libglib-2.0.so.0 #1 0x000000333444ee32 in g_log () from /lib64/libglib-2.0.so.0 #2 0x00000033358a92ff in g_settings_schema_get_value () from /lib64/libgio-2.0.so.0 #3 0x00000033358a950c in g_settings_schema_key_init () from /lib64/libgio-2.0.so.0 #4 0x00000033358ac952 in g_settings_get_value () from /lib64/libgio-2.0.so.0 #5 0x00000033358ad663 in g_settings_get_boolean () from /lib64/libgio-2.0.so.0 #6 0x0000000000429a45 in terminal_util_add_proxy_env () #7 0x0000000000422068 in terminal_screen_launch_child_cb () #8 0x0000003334447a55 in g_main_context_dispatch () from /lib64/libglib-2.0.so.0 #9 0x0000003334447d88 in g_main_context_iterate.isra.24 () from /lib64/libglib-2.0.so.0 #10 0x0000003334448182 in g_main_loop_run () from /lib64/libglib-2.0.so.0 #11 0x000000334594b077 in gtk_main () from /lib64/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 #12 0x00000000004135d3 in main () You can see a clean backtrace, with symbols and line numbers, here: https://retrace.fedoraproject.org/faf/reports/46305/ Do you want me to open a new bug report, or do you want to re-open this bug report?
This is still crashing for me Fedora 18, Mate Desktop 1.5.7. Significantly it works fine if no GNOME Proxy settings are set but the moment a proxy server is enabled, it crashes immediately you launch the TL.
This is also crashing on my laptop with Mate Desktop 1.5.8 on Fedora 18 i686. If I remove the proxy configuration from control panel it's ok.
Still crashing after latest update when staring mate terminal with an http_proxy defined. Running from command line gives the following output: (mate-terminal:9377): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.system.proxy.http' does not contain a key named 'use-http-proxy' Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) Clearly this bug exists and either this bug needs to be re-opened or a new one raised. The problem is that the bug tool always matches it to this bug. Catch 22!
