Please fill in each of the sections below. Hardware Environment: Dual processor SMP pentium III 1Ghz Adaptec 39320D HBA version 4.00.0 firmware Software Environment: Redhat Enterprise version 3 alpha 3 (and 2) aic79xx version 1.3.0 for alpha 3 and 1.3.4 for alpha 2 (aparently downgraded) Steps to Reproduce: 1.modprobe aic79xx 2.rmmod aic79xx 3. Actual Results: Random, usually locking up of the system, behavior consistant with resource corruption. The module is removed, and sometimes is able to be reinstalled. When this happens there's no indication that there's any issues, the attached peripherals work and don't seem to have any contention issues. Expected Results: Module removed with the system remaining functional. Additional Information: It is not necessary to attach any devices to the SCSI chain, it is sufficient to just install and remove the module.
Any update on this?
Bug was filed against both the wrong product and wrong component. Fixing.
The aic79xx driver is updated to rev. 1.3.10 in Taroon B1. (This driver is still fairly new and has undergone quite a bit of change recently.) Please try the B1 kernel and let us know if this problem is fixed.
------ Additional Comments From denebeim.com 2003-04-08 16:44 ------- I've tested the 1.3.10 version that is in Taroon B1 and it seems to have fixed the problem. Good job, thanks. Jay
