Actual results: Kernel segfault Expected results: Open up a view of files on the bluetooth device Additional info: From /var/log/messages Mar 5 21:04:25 localhost kernel: [ 8388.051114] pool[7180]: segfault at 5b ip 00000036b9613793 sp 00007f27e3a877a8 error 4 in libdbus-1.so.3.7.2[36b9600000+44000] The bluetooth dongle is a Belkin F8TO16. The bluetooth device I'm trying to browse is a Nokia N900. They worked fine in Fedora 14.
I have one laptop (Samsung RV720) which has the same problem, and another (Acer 9301AWSMi) which does not have the problem. I try to browse Nokia N900 as well with both laptops. On the problematic laptop I get the following in dmesg: [2013-03-23 13:14:19] pool[1491]: segfault at 0 ip 421a4792 sp b6bfee90 error 4 in libdbus-1.so.3.7.2[4217b000+49000] [2013-03-23 13:15:04] gvfsd-obexftp[1498]: segfault at 0 ip 421a60fa sp bfb38698 error 6 in libdbus-1.so.3.7.2[4217b000+49000] The bluetooth device is Broadcom BCM2070. Currently it runs kernel-3.8.2-206.fc18.i686. It has the same dbus-libs and gvfs-obexftp. Its Bluetooth device is: $ lsusb ... Bus 002 Device 010: ID 1131:1004 Integrated System Solution Corp. Have a look at a bug report upstream: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=693574 According to it downgrading gvfs to 1.12.3 fixes the problem (I have not tried this myself).
Those are segfaults in userspace. Are there any kernel related oops messages in dmesg?
I saw only errors related to libdbus in dmesg (see Comment 1).
This message is a reminder that Fedora 18 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 18. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '18'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 18's end of life. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 18 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 18's end of life. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 18 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2014-01-14. Fedora 18 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
