Description Pavel Ruzicka 2013-03-05 20:35:32 UTC
Description of problem:

DIA package doesn't includes cairo PDF or PNG export.
Cairo PDF is specially useful, because texts in them are searchable.
PDF converted from exported PS is a little distorted and texts are not searchable. DIA in Mandriva/Mageia has this option.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
dia-0.97.2-1.fc18.x86_64

How reproducible:
Look at Export Options.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open File/Export
2. Select Export Options
3. Cairo PDF/PNG is not present

Actual results:
Cairo PDF/PNG export option is not present

Expected results:
Cairo PDF/PNG export will be available

Additional info:
DIA compiled from source works with Cairo PDF/PNG Export Options

What flags did you use with ./configure & make ?

Also in a private mail you mentioned some problems with the Cairo support.
Do you still see them ? Can you describe them here ?

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2013-12-21 11:54:04 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 18 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 18. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '18'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 18's end of life.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be
able to fix it before Fedora 18 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior to Fedora 18's end of life.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 3 Huzaifa S. Sidhpurwala 2014-08-12 12:56:29 UTC
It seems you need the dia-cairo plugin to enable support to export to PDF. I am looking at ways to enable this, moving to rawhide

Comment 4 Jan Kurik 2015-07-15 14:50:25 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 23 development cycle.
Changing version to '23'.

(As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 23 development
cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 23 End Of Life. Thank you.)

*** Bug 1383206 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***

Comment 6 Gabriel Machado 2016-10-10 12:04:56 UTC
Why the dia-cairo rpm is still not available ?

Is the maintainer missing time to do it or there is any technical problem ?

bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 8 Pavel Ruzicka 2017-07-27 11:44:45 UTC
There is still missing Cairo support in DIA, which is from some reason disabled in SRPM. In past there was troubles with PDF and PNG export rendering but now for few years it works correctly when I enable back CAIRO support and compile DIA by myself.

Comment 10 Fedora End Of Life 2018-05-29 12:37:16 UTC
Fedora 26 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2018-05-29. Fedora 26
is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
