libzmq is distributed under LGPLv3+, as correctly shown in the package's License: tag, but with the Classpath Exception. [1] [2] The packaging guidelines say that licenses with the Classpath Exception should add "with exceptions" in the License: tag [3] [4]; in this case, the License: tag should read "LGPLv3+ with exceptions". Hi Tom, when you find a little time, can you look at this request? I have a project LinuxCNC, GPLv2 (only) that combines libzmq. The Classpath Exception allows this, and the 0mq devs have confirmed. Thanks- John
Thanks for the ping. I somehow missed this bug... The table at [1] misses LGPL with Classpath exceptions and mentions only "with exceptions". When using the exception clause, one needs to send it to the legal list, but I don't think that is necessary in this case... Nevertheless, I block FE-LEGAL to be absolutely sure, if LGPLv3+ can be combined with the classpath exception, but I think so. Can the table also be extended to contain the "LGPLv3+ with classpath exceptions" please? [1] http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Licensing:Main#Good_Licenses
Just put "LGPLv3+ with exceptions". Lifting FE-Legal.
