Description of problem: I have been struggling to get back to my Xfce desktop environment, but lost the keyboard and mouse capablility. (May have selected another choice under the Settings Manager since there were four options.) For some reason, the DE would only allow Ctrl-Alt-Del, which would take it to a faded out blank screen which would only allow password recovery; something not available without full keyboard. So I have tried an alternate DE. This is what I got. I could not even reach root from the login menu because Fedora fails to post that in the config file for the log in feature. Nor does it allow adding one. This is a real pain to recover and probably caused this crash. These un-warned but damaging setting changes has cause five unnecessary and complete system re-installs. Beyond that, I haven't a clue. This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 17.
