You have a lot of plugins running at the same time, also the useless (imo) gears plugin. http://www.junauza.com/2011/07/5-absolutely-useless-compiz-plugins.html Can you disable gears, fire and water plugins for cube rotating, and enable them step by step to see what plugin this issue caused. You are using LXDE?
